I’ve always been deeply interested in people, in how our minds work, what causes us pain and suffering, and how we can begin to ease that and move towards change. At the heart of my work as a therapist is a genuine curiosity about your experience, and a strong belief that healing and growth are possible, even when things feel very stuck.
My academic and clinical training reflects this long-standing interest. I hold a BA in Philosophy with Psychology, which first drew me into big questions about human experience, meaning, and distress. I later completed a Certificate in Counselling Skills, before going on to an MSc in the Psychology of Mental Health. My dissertation explored the impact of body-positive images on body appreciation and mood, reflecting my interest in how society, self-image, and mental health interact.
I then completed an MSc in Psychological Therapies in Primary Care, where my training focused on delivering evidence-based therapy within NHS services. My dissertation was a systematic review comparing the effectiveness of CBT for Social Anxiety Disorder with mindfulness-based approaches, strengthening my commitment to offering therapy that is grounded in research as well as real-world experience. I am a full member (FMBPsS) of the British Psychological Society (BPS), which recognises my expanded knowledge and skills working in the psychology field.
Alongside my formal training, I have volunteered for a nightline service, including training and supervising volunteers, and worked in a specialist service supporting people who self-harm. I have also worked within the NHS in a psychological therapies team, supporting adults experiencing common mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression, panic, and low self-esteem.
I continue to develop my skills through specialist training in areas that particularly interest me, including CBT for Eating Disorders, Adapting CBT for Autistic Thinking, and CBT for Health Anxiety. I’m passionate about offering therapy that is research-backed, while also being warm, genuine and human. I believe effective therapy happens when people feel safe, understood and at ease, and not judged or rushed.
In our work together, my aim is to help you understand what’s been keeping difficulties going, while supporting you to develop new ways of relating to yourself and your experiences. Therapy isn’t about forcing change, but about building insight, confidence, new skills, and compassion, and taking steps at your pace, towards a life that feels more manageable and meaningful.
I have particular experience, interest, and passion for working with:
My years of experience working within the mental health field has provided me with lots of experience supporting people with a wide range of difficulties from many walks of life. These are some of the other areas I feel confident and well-equipped to support you with:
